ROUTE DESCRIPTION

View the route and ‘ride’ it on Google Earth at www.potberg.blogspot.com. Potberg is a wilderness area, which makes this event something very special. Sections of the routes are opened only for this event. All routes are circular and have received rave reviews from our ‘test riders’ and past participants.

The new 75km route has some great new single track sections. Expect some 1400m of climbing. Both the 55km Eland Route and the 32km Bontebok Route will show you the beauty of the De Hoop Nature Reserve as cyclists make their way down to the rugged coast line. The 10km route is a safe, fairly flat course on gravel roads through the farmlands and is child/beginner friendly.

DIRECTIONS TO VENUE

Take the N2 to Caledon and take the Bredasdorp turn-off. Continue with the main road through Bredasdorp and turn left onto the Swellendam road, then turn right towards the De Hoop Nature Reserve. You now still have roughly 50km of dirt road until the venue at the Potberg Environmental Centre; expect to take over 2 hours from Cape Town.

NOTES

Plenty of accommodation available in the area – come on the Friday and join us for a 25km night ride as well. Non-cycling friends and family members are invited to join us for a 14km or 26km trail run on the Saturday. Note: Prizes and times will be allotted only to cyclists wearing a transponder. All children u/10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Easy Entry Tickets accepted.
